Environment Management

Climate change is a serious threat to global food security, sustainable development, and poverty eradication. In the domain of food security, environmental professionals can study the impact of climate change on the environment and its effects on production.

ECCS professionals possess hands-on expertise in preparing the social/Environmental part of project feasibility reports, project proposals (especially PC-1), and various other documents for multi-donor projects (WB, ADB, USAID, JICA, GTZ, etc.) in the areas of Natural Resources Management and Livestock Management.

Environment, Ecology and NRM are the supportive disciplines to make true the concept of food security system in the Asiatic Region. We have hands-on expertise to work for them by preparing the Social/Environment part of the project feasibility reports, project proposals (especially PC-1), EOI, detailed designing, and many other documents for multi-donors (viz. WB, ADB, USAID, JICA, GTZ, etc.), especially in the sectors of water resources, power generation, and highway construction. By going through this process, we own the skills to implement/due diligence of Environment Impact Assessment (EIA); Initial Environment Examination (IEE); Environment Change Management (ECM); Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) system; Environment Management Plans (EMP), etc. Other essential elements of Environmental/ Ecological/Social studies are assessment of Climate Change (CC), food security/abundance; formulation of sustainable conservation strategies (CS); understanding Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), Carbon Credits; and measurement of forest Carbon capturing & storage along with other greenhouse gases (GHG).

Since construction of mega projects mostly demands the preparation and implementation of Resettlement Action Plans (RAP) of the project affected persons (PAP), hence we have gone through this Project Planning & Social Development process many more times under the direct guidelines and monitoring of major donor agencies like WB, etc. by working with their Panel of Expert (POE), social/ environmental auditors and independent reviewers. Understanding of WB and ADB social safeguard policies, including involuntary resettlement, indigenous people, etc., is an additional benefit that we learnt through the process. While working with Agriculture Production & Rural Development projects, our professionals got opportunity to work with multidisciplinary teams and worked directly with Poverty Alleviation Techniques including Self-Help & Micro-crediting; Resource Planning & Management; Institutional Development (ID); Planning, Appraisal, Monitoring & Evaluation (PAME) and social analysis through Log-frame & SWOT analysis, and Technical & Financial analysis through various techniques including the determination of Internal Rate of Return (IRR), etc. It may not be important to mention that Quality Assurance (QA) of environment/social safeguard documents, Audit and Baseline Survey reports is part and parcel of the aforesaid whole process.

2.1.1 (b): Environmental Assessment

Our core competence is the assessment of environmental impacts during pre-construction, construction operation and decommissioning stages of the development project(s), by proposing cost effective and doable mitigation measures as well as devising environmental management and monitoring plans according to international standards and guidelines, mainly derived from the IFCs.

Baseline Data Collection against Environmental Pollution

Survey and studies of physical resources like geology, topography, meteorology faulting and seismology, ecological resources like marine ecology, flora, fauna, endangered species, features of the land use, transportation and allied socio-economic conditions, take employment, education and the related social amenities.

Social/Ecological Investigations

Professionals of our team investigate the environmental and social factors in environmentally and socially sensitive areas, e.g., watercourse, wetland, active dunes, arid lands, forest areas, terrestrial and aquatic ecological areas, national parks and other sensitive hotspots.

EcoCare Consultancy Services (ECCS) has extensive experience in forest conservation, biodiversity management, and sustainable forestry practices across Pakistan and internationally.
